Cambodian Red Cross Secretary General Meets ICRC Head of Mission

On the afternoon of January 6, 2021, the Cambodian Red Cross held the signing ceremony of the 2021 Budget Agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) under presidency of Lct. Pum Chantinie, CRC Secretary General and Ms. Dena Fisher, Head of Mission of ICRC to Cambodia. The ceremony was held at the CRC NHQs.

On that occasion, Lct. Pum Chantinie conveyed the regards of Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany HUNSEN, President of the Cambodian Red Cross and thanked the I.C.R.C for financial and technical supports since 1979 to the present (42 years), especially the supports which assisted the hungry people who were liberated from the genocidal regime and united the four Red Cross Factions into a single United Cambodian Red Cross Society; the process of unification started in 1992 and completed in 1994. Moreover, the ICRC provided full technical support in the development of CRC’s statutes and financial regulations. In particular, for the financial supports in 2021, the ICRC provided the total amount of USD $ 104,653 on the implantation of the activities including Promoting respect of IHL, Emblem and the mandate of the Cambodian Red Cross, Safer Access Framework, Restoring Family Links , and Disability Inclusion (Micro loan program).

In the past 2020, ICRC provides an annual budget of more than USD 100,000.00 and another USD 40,000.00 to the Cambodian Red Cross to supports outreach activities and Covid-19 dissemination in Cambodia.

Ms. Dina Fisher expressed her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the CRC Humanitarian work under the leadership of Samdech Kittiprittbindit Bun Rany HUNSEN, President of the Cambodian Red Cross for the effectiveness and transparency to alleviate the difficulties of the people in needs in times.

Ms. Dina Fischer was committed to fulfilling the role and further strengthening the cooperation between CRC and ICRC.
