Cambodian Red Cross attends the 18th South East Asia Leaders Meeting
On the afternoon of Thursday, September 16th, 2021, the Secretary-General of the Cambodian Red Cross, Lok Chumteav Pum Chantinie, attended the 18th Red Cross and Red Crescent South East Asia Leaders virtual meeting, which was held 2 days September 16-17, 2021 from 13:00 to 17:00 and hosted by Thai Red Cross. The afternoon session was chaired by Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of the Thai Red Cross Society and Honorary guests by Mr. Francesco Rocca, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) and Mr. Robert Mardini, Executive Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the leaders as well as youth representatives of the 11 National Societies in Southeast Asia.
The first session mainly focused on the challenges in the context of COVID-19 crisis that the 11 National Societies in Southeast Asia, and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movements that have been facing and joining hand to strengthen national-international unity to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and save human life.
Moreover, the meeting highlighted on the joint thinking, capacity building of each national society, as well as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in rehabilitating the COVID-19 situation.
At the same time, the meeting also shared good experiences, cooperation, promotion, vaccination and the South East Asia Youth Network on youth leadership, youth participation in environmental protection, youth communication, COVID-19 response activities and psychological support.
