Community Based Health Development Programme

Background

The Community Based Health Development Program supported by Danish Red Cross since 2003 until now.  The very first phase started from 2003 -2005 implemented in Kampot and Siem Reap while second phase started from quarter 2, 2006-2012 implemented in Kampot, Siem Reap, Rattanakiri, and Mondulkiri province. The current phase started from quarter 2, 2012 until quarter 2, 2016 in Preah Vihear and Kampot province.  The current phase working in 47 villages, 9 communes, 5 district and 2 province with total direct and indirect beneficiaries 46,990 people, 23,445 females.

 

The program have recruited and trained 317 Red Cross Volunteers on first aid, Red Cross/Red Crescent principles, Red Cross movement, and related skills on water, sanitation and health.

 

Total estimated budget for 4 years from 2012-2016 is 2 million dollars

 

Program Development Objective

The health of programme target communities has improved and their resilience to identified vulnerability factors has increased (and thereby contributed to key Cambodia MDGs).

 

Immediate objective

 

The increased capacity of the CRC has resulted in an improved health and resilience status of 47 vulnerable target villages in Preah Vihear and Kampot Provinces.

 

Program Output

1. Water

The main activities for this output is focusing on providing safe water, and other alternative water supply provision like providing ceramic water filter, water jar, rain water harvesting, and other related event like Word Water Day.

 

 

2. MNCH

The main activities for this output is focusing on health promotion and education, and related event like World Breastfeeding Week, World Aids Day to the target communitie, training to RCVs, support health center the basic delivery equipment and materials including outreach activities.

 

3. Sanitation

The main activities for this output is focusing on hygiene promotion and sanitation by organizing cleaning campaign, construction washing hand facility, providing household and school latrine.

 

 

4. Capacity Building

The main focus on this output is providing training, workshop, and exchange visit to related staff such as branch and sub branch, and the volunteers with technical support from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Rural Development and development partners.
