Cambodian Red Cross Donates to the Music Association for People with Disabilities
On 16 February 2016, Ms. Men Neary Sopheak, First Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross visited and presented the 4th time donation to the Music Association for People With Disabilities at their temporary shelter in Svay Rolum commune, Saang District, Kandal province.
Today donation is two tons of rice, some food and non-food items and five million Riels (1,250 USD). Additionally, the association members had a joyful lunch at Tole Basac II restaurant under the CRC support as well.
It should be noted that the Music Association of People with Disabilities has received assistance in kind and cash from the Cambodian Red Cross twice in 2014, the first time on March 3rd and the second time on December 3rd.. On June 8th 2015 the Cambodian Red Cross donated for the third time fifty thousand U.S. dollars to help build a residential and vocational training center which will become a vocational center for a new life for people with disabilities to learn music, massage, and educational drama, braille. etc.
Cambodian Red Cross Presents a Royal Medal to Mrs. Anne Elisabeth LECLERC
H.E Khoun Sudary, Vice President of the Cambodian Red Cross , on behalf of Samdech Kittipritthbindit Bun Rany HUNSEN, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, presented a royal medal to Mrs. Anne Elisabeth LECLERC, country cluster support team of IFRC, Bangkok office , on 15 February 2016 at Cambodian Red Cross National Headquarters.
H.E Vice President stated that Mrs. LECLERC, was awarded the Royal Order of Sahametrei, class Mohasena (Grand Officer), granted by His Majesty Samdech Preah Bat Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in recognition for her vigorous and exerted efforts and numerous achievements as Head of the Regional Office for South East Asia of the IFRC.

Cartier Charitable Foundation delegation visit project in Svay Rieng
On 12 February 2016, Cartier Charitable Foundation delegation led by Ms. Olaug Bergseth accompanied by Mr. Va Sopheak, Head of sub-Department of non-communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases of the Cambodian Red Cross meet with madam Neang Setha Cheang Om, president of the Cambodian Red Cross Svay Rieng branch to discuss the consolidation of partnership and cooperation.
The delegation also visit the achievement of the target areas of watsan project implemented since 2015 at Toul Sdey commune, Chantrea district . the following day the delegation continued to monitor the same projects implemented in Kratie and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
The Cartier Charitable Foundation Delegation ’s visit to the Cambodian Red Cross
Madam Pum Chantinie , Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross had an audience, on 12 February 2016 at Cambodian Red Cross national Headquarters, with Cartier Charitable Foundation delegation led by Ms Olaug Bergseth, Strategic Partnerships and International Relations, Geneva.
The purpose was to build up partnership and relationship among Cartier Charitable Foundation, International Federation and the Cambodian Red Cross and also to learn the progress of Watsan, a three year (2015-2017) community based project implemented at targeted branches of Svay Rieng, Kratie, and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
Red Cross Youth and Advisers Receive Training on Road Safety
On 09 February 2016, 25 Red Cross youth and advisers of Cambodian Red Cross Siem Reap branch received a 2 - day training on road safety , disable people and Child protection supported by Australian Aid and Australian red cross.
The purpose of the training is to disseminate on new traffic law, Disable people value and educate them how to protect violation, child labor exploitation and child sexual abuse. The training is also a good opportunity for them to join in society and to serve their communities.
Data Collection on Climate Change at Choung Kal Commune, Choung Kal District.
In cooperation with the Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology from 31 January 2016 to 01 February 2016, Mr. Sor Seng Heang, Cambodian Red Cross Oddar Meanchey Red Cross branch director, leads 30 Red Cross volunteers to collect data from a population of 45 families located in Chhuk village and Banteay Chas village in Chhoung Kal commune Kal, Chhoung Kal district for the purpose of exploring the effects caused by climate change and the beneficiaries of the irrigation system to enhance people's livings.
Preparation meeting for 8 May Day 2016
In the afternoon, 27th January 2016, there was a meeting to prepare for the 8 May 2016 and the Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen Mother of the Khmer Nation which presided over by Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Som Ol, Standby Vice-President of the Cambodian Red Cross.
During the meeting, all members discussed the following agendas such as:
-Approval for establishment of the Commission for organizing the 153th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, 8 May 2016
-Roles, responsibilities and duties of the Commission and Sub-Commission
-Comments from all members and
All members of the meeting agreed to the above appointments and delegations through active discussion and comments. The meeting was adjourned at 5 pm which received fruitful result and strong commitment to achieving the above topics according to expectation.
13 vulnerable people receive micro-loan from Cambodian Red Cross Loeuk Dek sub-branch
Cambodian Red Cross Loeuk Dek sub-branch, on 26 January 2016, provide micro loan of World Mate Project through Cambodian Red Cross to 13 vulnerable people from Prek Toch and Prek Dach villages, Prek Dach commune in Loeuk Dek district, Kandal Province aimed at increasing their better living standard. It is worth recalling that Cambodian Red Cross has so far provided micro-loan to the 555 vulnerable people for Prek Dach commune only. The project started since 2012 implemented 2 communes including Prek Dach and Kampong Phnom to improve the living standards of the vulnerable. Each receives free interest loan of 1,000,000 Riels (USD 250.00) respectively for a year.
Cambodian Red Cross Kampot Branch chlorinate 38 wells in 3 districts
From 19-21 January 2016, 38 wells supported by Danish Red Cross provided to the people who live in Damnak Sokrom commune, Dang Tong district, Dan Kom commune, Angkor Chey district and Prey Thnong commune, Tek Chou district . In other to have safe water for the people using. The team of Community based health development project of Cambodian Red Cross Kampot Branch took water for quality testing at Phnom Penh center. After that those wells water founded high level of cali-form. The campaign chlorinated of cali-form started from now on . At the same time, the team identified 3 locations to construct hand washing place for 3 primary schools.
Cambodian Red Cross Preah Vihear branch Control water quality
On 13 January 2016,Cambodian Red Cross Preah Vihear branch, in collaboration with the Community Based Health Development program, collected 21 water samples from the wells in Rovieng district and 15 from Kulen district, totaling of 36,supported by Danish Red Cross, for water quality control in Phnom Penh to ensure water safety for the local people daily use.
